Artist's Comments

House of Leaves is an amazing book by Mark Z. Danielewski. This shot is a nod to the book's central theme.

I've been a tempted to read that book several times, but I've never really gotten myself to do it. The shot is great, I like these kind of motives and even though it's a shot done many times before I really like this. The lines from the stairs looks great. The shot reminds me of a great album, and that's not bad either :)

yeah, its an often done shot, but the square post tops really make it stand out as something slightly different and original..

i love the way you are drawn into the spiral (which is angled, almost escher-esque!) at eye level, and the tone change down the steps as well..

very nice indeed, would look nice printed in a contemporary/bar cafe kinda setting maybe.. (not im not an interior designer.. heh)

Yeah I realize it's been done so many times, but I walked down the stairs of my apartment building after finishing House of Leaves and thought "Oh God, what if these stairs were to never end?" So I ran up the stairs and after reassuring myself, I went down again with my camera and snapped a picture. Couldn't resist. It's not one of my highest quality photos, but I still like the dizzy, unknown, feeling that it inspires. :)

I'm giving myself a couple of years before i reread - the first time around about blew my mind... :) Suppose I should read the Whalestone letters, maybe next time around with HOL

 I couldn't live without HOL. I must comprehend every word with lucid understanding.

you should just read the whalestoe letters, it's a completely different story really.

well kudos if you do understand every word - have you seen the stuff online on hidden codes and meanings? I'd sorta like to see it made into a movie, but know that it could never live up to the book.

I'm in between books at the moment and looking for something good, so perhaps I'll pick up Whalestone Letters - thanks for the recommendation
